In the summer of 1974, 11-year-old Marnus lives a sheltered existence within the privileged world of white Apartheid South Africa. After he accuses the grandson of his family’s domestic worker of stealing his fishing rod, the boy is brutally attacked by police, setting off a chain of events that casts his father, a celebrated army general, in a troubling new light. As tragedy unfolds over the course of five days, Marnus discovers the  hypocrisy and abuse hidden beneath his family’s carefully maintained facade.
