In a melancholic and isolated agricultural village in south-central Chile, the gloomy daily life of a nineteenth-century estate is shattered. Gabriel, a creatively blocked foreign playwright, and his partner Eva see their fragile confinement disrupted by the unexpected arrival of Mateo, Gabriel's younger brother, unearthing deep and old family tensions. This oppressive autumnal atmosphere reaches its peak during the wedding of Jean and Judith, two Haitian day laborers working on the property. What was supposed to be an intimate celebration transforms into a harsh clash of classes and cultures when the landowners encourage the local peasants to join the party, usurping the space and marginalizing the bride and groom. Amidst this tense alcoholic chaos, the mud, and the smoke from the bonfires, Jean mysteriously disappears, leaving behind a trail of uncertainty that the inclement winter rain only obscures further.
